QUESTIONS FROM FANDOM PURPLES

1.- WHY IS THIS NEW ALBUM CALLED ‘pieces’ AND WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT TO CONVEY?

(Siin) Some days, we become mismatched pieces, sharp and jagged, hurting each other as we collide.

But on other days, we fit together perfectly, as if we were always meant to be one.

In this way, each of us is just a small piece, yet within that small piece lies infinite potential to become anything.

And this is something that applies to all of us, ordinary as we may seem.

We don't like to explain the songs, we prefer you to listen to them and feel what you have to feel.

2.- WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE THE ALBUM “pieces”?

(Siin) We have prepared a lot of material in all this time of recharging, and we wanted to make an album of these experiences.

3.- ARE THERE ANY SONGS ON THIS ALBUM THAT WERE PLANNED PREVIOUS ALBUMS? 

(Jekyung) In one of our meetings, we discussed the idea of releasing one or two singles before the release of ‘pieces’, but it was delayed because of the schedule and because with the solo concert it was not the right time. Please pay attention to the next single or album.

4.- WHY DID YOU CHOSE “서로 (the one and only)” AS THE FIRST RELEASE CLIP?

(Siin) The atmosphere of the album has changed a lot, but ode´s essence is love, so we chose it because it was definitely the song that best expressed love.

5.- HAS THE RESULT OF THIS ALBUM BEEN AS YOU THOUGHT AT THE BEGINNING? 

(Jekyung) It's the same with all the other EPs and singles, but given the circumstances, they are released 100%.

We regret some things, because after the release, we usually improve our songs with performances and rehearsals. Everyone regrets past mistakes :)

6.- WHICH SONG FROM THE NEW ALBUM DO YOU LIKE THE MOST? 

(Seunghyun) The one I like the most is ‘pieces’. The vocals and guitar melodies are awesome.

(Youngjun) ‘trauma’ is a fast and intense song, in a different style than what we've done so far with ode. It was fun to make this song.

(Jekyung) From this album, I like ‘fault’ the most. The mood of the song is not too exciting, but the lyrics and melody created by Siin make it even more creative.

(Siin) ‘fault’, I think the entire album grew from that song.

7.- WERE THERE ANY INTERESTING ANECDOTES DURING THE RECORDING OF THE NEW ALBUM?

(Jekyung) There was nothing particularly interesting during the recording of the album. Instead of recording together, we recorded in our own studio and compiled it as an archive, so it's a bit weird to get together and work on the songs.

8.- DESPITE THE DIFFERENT MUSICAL STYLE, DO THE LYRICS OF THIS ALBUM HAVE ANYTHING IN COMMON?

(Siin) Instead of writing lyrics that force us to insert them as one, we try to capture the most honest feelings of the moment.

9.- WHAT MOTIVATED THIS CHANGE OF MUSICAL STYLE IN THE ALBUM? WHERE DO YOU FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE?

(Youngjun) We wanted to show you a more colorful side of us.

When we perform, sometimes we have to leave a strong impression, but there have been many times when we felt that the songwriting was limitng us. If you divide the two main styles of music, you don't feel complete. It's always fun when there are two styles!

If we have to tell you a difficult feeling, we think a song with less composition of background sound instruments is a bit more difficult.

10.- WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE WAY OF PROMOTINIG THIS NEW ALBUM IN COMPARISON WITH "colors"? (LESS INTERACTIONS, PLAYING SONGS BEFORE THE RELEASE...)

(Siin) If we thinkg about it coldly, we don't think the previous method was so successful. So we decided to approach it differently. And if the method of this album seems to be a failure again, we will change it for another one.

11.- DO YOU THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO ORGANIZE THE FIRST SOLO CONCERT AND THE RELEASE OF THE FOURTH ALBUM AT THE SAME TIME?   

(Jekyung) At first, we intended to release it on the same day or a few days before the solo concert.

While we were detailing everything thoroughly, we wondered if there would be any reason to release it later. We had already played all the songs throughout the year, so we finally decided to release it before the performance. 

We were happy because people seemed to be familiar with all the songs.

12.- ARE YOU PROMOTING THE ALBUM AS YOU WANTED? 

(Youngjun) We intend to keep promoting the album as we continue to play.

We believe that we have to promote the band itself rather than focusing on promoting only the album.

13.- HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO PREPARE THIS ALBUM? DO YOU HAVE ANY UNRELEASED SONGS?

(Siin ) It took us a long time to put together the stories for the album, but we think it didn't take us long to work on it.

There are as many songs that haven't been released yet as there are finished songs... but we won't reveal them.

14.- HOW IS THE MEANING OF THE ALBUM COVER?

(Youngjun) It means to solve the story of the book through the music. 

In this album, each song corresponds to an image. We hope that by joining the music with these images, we can easily convey the story we want to tell to many people.

15.- WHAT DID YOU PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO WHILE PREPARING FOR THE SOLO CONCERT?

(Youngjun) The clothes, the stage lighting, the backstage Beam Project image, the set list... We paid a lot of attention to many things.

16.- IN THE FUTURE, WHAT DO YOU PREFER, THE SURPRISE EFFECT OR PLAYING THE SONGS BEFORE THE RELEASE AS YOU HAVE DONE WITH "pieces"?

(Jekyung) Whichever method Siin decides, we will support it. We are satisfied with releasing the album before the solo concert or releasing at the same time as the performance.

17.- WHAT PLANS DO YOU HAVE WITH YOUR MUSICAL GROUP “untitled club”? 

(Youngjun) It is a project that we have formed with a group of musician friends and video creators. We are planning to release an album and create content together.

18.- WHICH SONG HAS BEEN THE MOST DIFFICULT TO COMPOSE? 

(Siin) I think ‘blues’ is a very personal song and only I can understand and connect with the message. That's why I try not to show it so much in the performance.

19.- WHAT DO YOU THING ABOUT CHAT GPT AND AI? 

(Seunghyun) AI is very interesting, but music is emotional.

I think it's going to be difficult to use in this field. But it seems good for getting new ideas.

20.- IN AND INSTALIVE YOU MENTIONED THAT YOU WANTED TO COLLABORATE WITH SOME BANDS IN THE FUTURE, DO YOU HAVE ANY BAND IN MIND?  

(Youngjun) It would be great to have the opportunity to collaborate with the different artists we mentioned before. You asked us about it, and we answered just for fun, but the truth ist that at the moment we don't have in mind to collaborate with any band.

21.- IF YOU HAD TO DESCRIBE THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THE BAND AND FAS IN ONE WORD, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

(Jekyung) As my English is not very good, I used translator, but I don't know what you mean by chemistry. I think it's in the interest of fans and us attracting each other and allowing us to meet each other continuously.

22.- HOW DO YOU MANAGE SOCIAL MEDIA AND WHAT IMPORTANCE DO YOU GIVE TO SOCIAL MEDIA AND INTERACTIONS WITH YOUR FANS? 

(Seunghyun) Communication with fans should have a very high priority. But for me personally, I find it hard because I‘m not very sociable.

(Youngjun) I think it´s an important factor in the modern society that works and keeps togetherness. I think communication and sharing information is important.

(Jekyung) The four members check messages together, the person who sees it first informs the others about the contact for future interaction. Siin is the one who makes the final decision with everything related to messages and schedules

25.- WHICH ALBUM AND SONG ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF? 

(Seunghyun) I'm proud of the first album 'to youth' and the song ‘shelter' It's the most meaningful because it's the first album that I made by my self.

(Youngjun) I like all the albums, but I like the one I like the most is the album ‘pieces’ ! / And the song is ‘fault’.

(Jekyung) ‘sleepless’ is my favorite. Each member's part is resonant. I'm deeply touched by the lyrics and songwriting while playing.

(Siin) I am very proud of all the albums.

26.- DO YOU REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME YOUR FANS SANG ONE OF YOUR SONGS? 

(Seunghyun) It wasn't easy because the fans were as quiet as us, but we remember the time when we sang the song 'call me by your name' together.

27.- DO YOU HAVE NEW GOALS FOR 2025? 

(Youngjun) Our dream is to become rosck star on a bigger stage!

We have in mind to increase the number of performances in 2025.

28.- ARE YOU GOING TO RELEASE ANY SOLO ALBUMS OR OTHER ode MEMBER'S PROJECTS?

(Seunghyun) I will release another solo album in 2025.

29.- YOU HAVE A RECOGNIZABLE MUSICAL STYLE. WOULD YOU LIKE TO PUSH YOUR PERSONAL BOUNDARIES AND GO FOR UNUSUAL MUSICAL EXPERIMENTS?(Seunghyun) We keep the basic style, but we constantly try to pursue new things.

30.- IS THERE ANY SUBJECT YOU WOULD LIKE TO TALK ABOUT IN YOUR LYRICS, BUT YOU HAVEN'T DONE IT YET?

(Siin) It's a secret

32.- ARE YOU PLANNING ANY KIND OF EVENTS TO CREATE MORE MEMORIES WITH PURPLES?

(Seunghyun) We want to perform in various places and we will make contents such as live clips and song cover videos.

(Seunghyun) We help each other, just like when we make music
